New commandant of cadets named at West Point

Brig. Gen. Lori Robinson will assume command as the 80th commandant of cadets at the US Military Academy during a change of command ceremony on Tuesday, June 20, in Crest Hall.

She is currently serving as the deputy commanding general (Support), 2nd Infantry Division (Combined), Eighth Army, Republic of Korea and will replace Brig. Gen. Mark Quander who will move on to be the commanding general, Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, US Army Corps of Engineers, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Robinson is a 1994 graduate of West Point and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace), a Master of Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.

Robinson, an aviation officer from Paterson, NJ, has served in a number of aviation assignments both stateside and overseas to include four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

She has led soldiers in both command and staff positions from company through brigade task force level.

Brig. Gen. Lori L. Robinson assumed command as the 80th Commandant of Cadets at the U.S. Military Academy during the U.S. Corps of Cadets Change of Command Ceremony June 20 in Crest Hall.

Robinson graduated from West Point in 1994 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace), a Master of Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Robinson is an Aviation officer from Paterson, N.J., and has served in a variety of aviation assignments both stateside and overseas to include four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. She has led Soldiers in both command and staff positions from company through brigade task force level.

She just completed serving as the deputy commanding general (Support), 2nd Infantry Division (Combined), Eighth Army in the Republic of Korea. She is replacing Brig. Gen. Mark A. Quander, who is moving on to be the commanding general of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Cincinnati.

Brig. Gen. Lori Robinson, Deputy Commanding General of Support of the 2nd Infantry Divsion/ROK-U.S. Combined Division, holds up her flight patch from her time as a platoon leader in B Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division after receiving the Order of St. Michael Silver Award.

“The Chinook community always finds a way to get the mission done,” said Robinson. “I saw it in Afghanistan night after night. I’ve flown humanitarian relief in Honduras and I’ve seen it all over the world. The one thing I’m always really proud of is if someone asks us to do something, we’ll find a way to try to do it and to do it safely. To do that, you have to hone your skills and this is a great place to do that.

Brig. Gen. Lori Robinson, received the Order of St. Michael Silver Award on June 24, 2022 for her lasting and significant contributions to Army aviation. Brig. Gen. Robinson started her Army career as a Chinook helicopter pilot as a platoon leader in B Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division.

2nd Infantry Division ROK-U.S. Combined Division held the Deputy Commanding General – Sustainment Patching Ceremony at Freeman Hall, March 11, 2022. Incoming Brig. Gen. Lori L. Robinson, 2nd Infantry Division ROK-U.S. Combined Division became the Deputy Commanding General – Sustainment for the division. Robinson most recently served as the Deputy Commanding General (Support), 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York.
