Col Rob Maness, USAF ret, and Dan Clark, both members of the STARRS Board of Advisors, have new books that have just been published that are useful for the fight. One book is about taking action while the other book is how to use the power of stories to get people to take action.
What You Can Do About It: Taking Real Action Against Corruption, Radicalism, and Moral Decay to Save America by Rob Maness
Book Description: For too long, the American Right has won the occasional yet significant battle while the Left has settled for nothing less than total victory in the culture war. Consistently, the Left has out-organized, out-fundraised in many cases, and out-advocated to wield raw power whether their agenda is popular or not.
Meanwhile, conservative commentator culture has prioritized content that cultivates outrage and gets clicks, traffic, and advertising dollars. The Right-wing news and opinion-editorial space at large has failed to leverage influencers’ massive platforms to organize grassroots change and propose real solutions that outlast a four-year election cycle. And elected Republicans often prove no more useful than Democrats.
It’s up to us: the people. But what can we do about it? And what precisely is the it we should focus our limited time, attention, money, and energy on?
Col. Robert L. Maness, ret., addresses these and other urgent questions and provides a personalized path to answer them for yourself. What can you do to make your part of America great again? Drawing from an adventurous life and career—including advancement from enlisted airman up to Air Force colonel and wing commander—Maness shows how any patriot can leave a lasting impact for good (and for good) even when you are one of the only ones willing to do something about it.
What You Can Do About It is for working parents, homemakers, students, retirees and volunteers, entrepreneurs and businesspeople, and all other everyday Americans who are sick and tired of waiting for our leaders to do the right thing and stop perpetual anti-American activism.
Colonel Rob Maness, USAF (Ret.) worked his way up from the enlisted ranks to full Colonel and retired from active duty in 2011, ending a 32-year career in the military. He led numerous combat operations, including as a bomber squadron commander in Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He was serving in the National Military Command Center in the Pentagon during the September 11, 2001 attack.
Following military retirement, Rob worked as an executive in a Fortune 500 energy corporation. He graduated Cum Laude at the University of Tampa, and holds master’s degrees from Harvard University’s Kennedy School, the Air Command and Staff College, and US College of Naval Warfare. Rob is the founder and owner of Iron Liberty Group, and is host of the Rob Maness Show. Robmaness.com.
Story Selling: How to 5x your value, 10x your influence, and turn your words into wealth by Dan Clark
Book Description: Master the Art of Story Selling
Success demands the ability to communicate with power, clarity, and emotion. Leaders who can deliver their story with authenticity, humor, and insight are seen as credible, influential, and unforgettable. Storytelling is not just an art—it’s a science rooted in brain chemistry.
Story Selling explores how to activate the six key brain chemicals—Adrenaline, Endorphins, Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and Cortisol—through strategic storytelling.
Drawing from decades of research and speaking experience, Dan Clark reveals how to discover, structure, and deliver stories that resonate deeply and move people to action.
More than a guide to public speaking, Story Selling is a blueprint for influence. Whether closing deals, inspiring teams, or building trust, the right story, told well, becomes a leader’s most powerful tool.
Story Selling transforms speakers into storytellers—and storytellers into unforgettable leaders.
Review on Amazon: I write this review as living proof that “old dogs can be taught new tricks.” Having been involved in public speaking for over 50 years, and now an author of novels, all I can say is I wish I had Dan Clark’s book available to me when I first started public speaking as a second lieutenant in the Air Force in 1970! This book is a MOST valuable yet readable guide to being a better speaker, and for those of us who put or “speeches into pages”, a better writer as well. I particularly like his “Ten Rules for Creating Iconic Stories.” In reading this book, I’ve picked up some great ideas which I will incorporate into my writing and speaking going forward. As a speaker, a writer, or an influencer, you will be better at what you do if you read this book!
