West Point Woke Agenda

West Point Leadership Thumbs its Nose at the Trump Administration & Loses

By Victoria Manning  |  Restoration News

A recent scuffle with West Point’s woke leadership reveals how hard the Left is trying to keep control of America’s premier military academy—and why it’s so important the Trump administration remove irresponsible leadership from command.

On July 29th, in a now deleted X post, Reeves proudly announced the hiring of Jen Easterly to be the new “Distinguished Chair” of West Point’s Department of Social Sciences (SOSH).

The problem? Easterly, who happened to be a classmate of Superintendent Steven Gilland’s at West Point, was part of the Biden regime’s intelligence apparatus to combat “misinformation”—and remains a DEI ambassador.

Reeves’ now-deleted X post

Easterly became Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) under Biden in 2021, when the agency was accused of ordering social media companies to censor speech. She stepped down from that role when Trump was inaugurated.

Easterly said the most important American infrastructure is our “cognitive infrastructure”—in other words, our thoughts. According to court documents, Easterly directed the “mission of Rumor Control” for the 2022 midterm elections. From the court filings:

“On November 21, 2021, CISA Director Easterly reported that CISA is ‘beefing up its misinformation and disinformation team in wake of a diverse presidential election a proliferation of misleading information online.’ Easterly stated she was going to ‘grow and strengthen’ CISA’s misinformation and disinformation team. She further stated, ‘We live in a world where people talk about alternative facts, post-truth, which I think is really, really dangerous if people get to pick their own facts.’”

Easterly is also a DEI advocate who promoted the importance of “diversity and belonging” in cybersecurity. In 2022, she received the Grace Hooper award given to people who have a “track record of advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in support of a stronger workforce.” She also advocated hiring more women to “close the gender gap.”

Why would West Point hire such a controversial anti-Trump individual for such an important position? Simple: Academy leaders have become too big for their britches.

We’re highlighting woke leadership at all five military service academies at RestoretheMilitary.com, chief among them West Point Superintendent Gilland and Brigadier General Shane Reeves, Dean of the Academic Board. Sec. Pete Hegseth should immediately remove both Reeves and Gilland after their latest brazen action that undermines policies set in place by President Trump.

Just hours after Reeves lavished his praise for Easterly on X, Army Sec. Dan Driscoll took swift action. In a memo, Driscoll directed West Point to terminate its agreement with Jen Easterly and directed that she will no longer serve as SOSH chair.

But he didn’t stop there.

Driscoll further directed the academy to “immediately pause non-governmental and outside groups from selecting employees of the Academy.” He further requested Board of Visitors Chair Rep. Steve Womack conduct an immediate review of West Point’s hiring practices.

The President was clear in his January 27th executive order “Restoring America’s Fighting Force” that there is no place for DEI in the American military. To have the best military in the world, it must be merit-based and free from discrimination based on sex or race.

Thankfully, there are now strong leaders such as Driscoll in place to hold rogue senior military leaders accountable for their actions.

Now the Board of Visitors needs to do its job and provide real oversight and accountability to the academy. It is the board’s responsibility to inquire and be informed about issues such as this and to provide recommendations to the President.

It’s time they recommend Sec. Hegseth fire Gilland and Reeves immediately and provide a full review of all other employees of West Point.

The military must root out all those who disobey the clear commands of the President and Defense Secretary.
