War Colleges Woke Agenda

Close Woke War Colleges?

CEO of gCaptain John Konrad posted on X, “How many times do I have to submit the request to close the Naval Woke College where the professor works? And she is their best lecturer. Everyone else who works there is worse…”

Some of the comments:

“This woman made sure I could not keep teaching at the Naval War College. Her Neocon worldview of a Globalist America as Sock Puppet for the Davos Elite dominated the Strategy Department when I taught there. Total submission to their Masters in the Imperial City. Go get them John!”

“Sad to say, but NWC reflects the general weakness of mil history & mil science across all American academe. Yes, some few great people do great things here & there; but mostly, those souls are rare within the college & university landscape of the Republic. (Yes, NWC grad here.)”

“It’s astounding how wrong she is and terrifying that she is infecting high ranking military officers with her nonsense. Europe is in complete decline. Deindustrialization, mass third world immigration destroying their cultures, millions upon millions of third world parasites being imported thus putting a huge drag on their economies, weak and stupid leaders and their gallop towards communism based on the CCP which will stifle ambition and innovation. Yeah Europe is collapsing.” (30 year Navy vet)

“I’ve listened to several of her talks, she said a few things indistinguishable from satire. She’s intelligent but clearly guided more by ideology than reason.”

“Our entire military is still riddled with this garbage.”

Retired Army Colonel “Cynical Publius” gave his thoughts on how to fix woke war colleges:

“IMO, closing the Naval War College (and the other Service and Joint war colleges) it is not the answer.

The answer is this:

1. Fire all civilian faculty, other than those required for extremely technical, apolitical areas like engineering.

2. Stop having permanent military faculty.

3. Stop seeking accreditation like civilian universities. Yes, that means the war colleges will cease granting master’s degrees. Good. Such degrees have zero bearing on warfighting.

4. Stop breeding interagency students from State, Commerce, etc. Such practice does not make those GS civilians more like warfighters–instead it makes uniformed officers more like GS civilians.

5. Cease allowing civilian suits as the uniform of the day. Dress uniform every day for every military student.

6. Service as war college faculty should be recognized as a premier assignment. Staff the faculty with O-6s who have had a successful tactical command and are highly likely to become an O-7. Put them on one year tours. Build the curriculum so it can be easily taught by someone who is there only for one year.

7. Reshape the curriculum so it focuses 90% on the “M” in the DIME-FIL. The curriculum needs to build warfighters who think strategically, not “strategists” who are more concerned with diplomacy than closing with and destroying America’s enemies.

8. Eliminate all curriculum that disguises wokeness as being a military matter. For example, “climate change as a crucial element of national power.”

9. Ensure that there is a rotating, supervisory board of governors for each war college that consists solely of recently retired, apolitical O-6s who have conclusively demonstrated tactical and operational success on the battlefield and have never once dabbled in civilian politics at any level. Retired flag officers should not be allowed to sit on this board.

Easy peasy. Problem solved.”

Some comments on CP’s post:

“These are sound recommendations with the exception of #1 and #7. #7 is already being done at CGSC. There’s been a refocus on warfighting in recent years and this has accelerated over the past twelve months. This applies across the curriculum, including history.

#1 is not only wrong but dangerous. First, firing all civilian instructors outside of “extremely technical apolitical areas” will not expunge the woke mind virus from PME. Recent events have revealed that the hard sciences are equally, if not more, susceptible to progressive brainwashing. Moreover, doing so would lead to an even more insular military that would, over time, likely resemble the German General Staff of the late nineteenth, early twentieth centuries: divorced from policy / strategy and imbued with a mindset and modus operandi that views war simply through the prism of tactics / operations.

Civilian PhDs are crucial to the development of informed, thoughtful, well-rounded military professionals. Warfighting knowledge / expertise is not enough. The key is not 0 civilian instructors, but rather apolitical civilian instructors.”

To which CP replies:

“Civilian PhDs are crucial to the development of informed, thoughtful, well-rounded military professionals.”

No they are NOT.

That belief is, in fact, the very problem.

That belief has bred a set of senior officers who lack a warfighting focus and are more concerned with satisfying the instincts of Ivy League universities than focusing on ruthlessly destroying our enemies.

The biggest part of the problem, by far, is that there are influential people who also believe the grossly erroneous statement you just made.”

Another one:

1. Disagree. Civilian instructors can provide expertise not available from active duty. The War Colleges aren’t teaching technical stuff. Careful vetting is called for, though.

2. Concur.

CP replies:

“If you disagree on #1 then you do not understand the problem. Nothing is more important than purging civilian instructors who see a war college position as a stepping stone to an Ivy League position.

There must be a 100% purge. Nothing less will solve the creeping wokeism that has engulfed our senior ranks.”

Few more comments:

“If most people saw how much they focus on constructivist international relations theory and “rules based” world order as both the current reality and a new good I think they would be shocked. It really explains how the FO/GO mafia act.”

“At NPS (Naval Postgraduate School) we had a professor who tried to join the IRA, it’s how he started the class, he was also a communist from UC Berkeley. Marine Major in the class, out loud, “Are you a fucking idiot?…Sir”

“Don’t know you but as a graduate of AWC 2012 agree 100% I was shocked at the “woke permanent faculty” woke wasn’t a term back then. Also, the intel agencies own the war colleges. And they have their deep state assets on the faculties.”

“#3 is a major timesuck for those who don’t know how much prep work by faculty and staff put in to ensure that every box on the accreditation checklist is checked off. Rinse and repeat since accreditation is only good for a set amount of years before going through the process again. Agree about the uselessness of MA/MS on the battlefield. By this ridiculous standard, George Washington wouldn’t be given command of our revolutionary army and defeat the British to win our independence. Ditto for all of our 5 star GOFOs who wouldn’t be allowed to lead our forces in crushing the original Axis of Evil.”

“This. Every single point is spot-on. The entire purpose and function of the War Colleges are to prepare future leaders for potential conflicts and not how to “climb the corporate” ladder of the MIC.”

“Army War College grad….spot on. The road to hell was paved with good intentions and we have lost our way at these institutions. I’d love to be on a committee to revamp them all.”

“Agreed. The institution is worth saving but needs to be cleansed of the woke Commies who have infiltrated & poisoned it. It needs to be run again like an elite military unit, not a country club for left wing radicals & effete snobs in the military.”

“Absolutely. And go a similar route with the military academies.”

“The Senior Enlisted Academies are just as bad with the Woke nonsense, I hope Pete is cleaning them out.”
