Utah’s Senator Mike Lee posted on X that he had recently spoken with the father of a U.S. Air Force Academy cadet.
The cadet’s father told Senator Lee that the Air Force Academy’s official forms refer to him (the cadet’s father) as the cadet’s “non-birthing parent,” and to his wife (the cadet’s mother) as the cadet’s non-birthing parent.”

The tweet has 6 million views, 5,000 comments, 4,300 re-tweets of the post and 19,000 likes. That’s enough to give USAFA the sweats.
The comments in the tweet were ratio’d in anger towards USAFA at this ridiculousness.
One commenter told the Senator, “This is why my son abandoned his plans to go to the Academy, or service at all. He’s “wait and see” for the incoming admin while working on a degree.” Sen. Lee replied, “Sad and I fear increasingly common.”
Other commenters added:
“Same. It was my son’s dream to fly in the military. Now he says not a chance.”
“Mine too, he’s 16 and has wanted to be in the military since he was 4. Sadly, he’s now decided on a different career.”
“I know!! My dad served 20 years Air Force, “best time of his life” He told my 17 year old son NOT to enlist since our mighty military went soft. It breaks my heart. We are a patriotic family, but under the past admin my son would be in danger. Pete, Make Military Great Again.”
“He’s the product of good parenting. As a veteran, I wouldn’t recommend the military at the current time.”

Another commenter said, “This stuff really just is a bad joke. We live in fantasy world because there is no shame in telling people right from wrong. A society where you just have to accept any madness will keep deteriorating.” The Senator from Utah replied, “Never would have thought our military academies would be at the cutting edge of this kind of language.”
Secretary of Defense designee Pete Hegseth also chimed in that gave millions hope:

Now USAFA is REALLY sweating.
We thought after USAFA was caught telling cadets not to say “Mom” or “Dad”–to the insult of all the proud Moms and Dads of cadets–that the Academy would do away with such crazy nonsense. Guess not.
Let’s make fathers Fathers again, and mothers Mothers (who are the only ones who give birth to future cadets).
Few other insightful comments on Hegseth’s tweet:
“As the mom of two Veterans from the Navy, my youngest left because he got tired of the political environment. The DEI and other racists classes that they were taking and having to listen to. The issue is real. He was in 12 years as a Navy Nuke and hoped to make it 20 years.”
“I’m currently in the Air Force, it’s the most woke of the branches by far. It’s all the generals, upper civilian leadership hires like Wing DEI made up positions and a few woke chiefs. Mr Hegseth will be a god send.”
“Way to go – Pete – As the son of a Vietnam Vet who retired as Chief of Staff of the 8th Air Force, he was despondent and disgusted with our military leaders. We have had great conversations about you and are praying for your success. There are a lot of great families depending on you. Thank you for your service in the past and future. I am very proud of you.”
“The Air Force is still mandating Covid jabs before deployment. My family member stationed in Florida and scheduled for deployment in March is holding out for Pete!”
“I worked DoD for 1 year, pronouns GALORE! they actually give classes to Airmen to inform and have them select their pronouns.”
“I almost cried today. Happy/proud tears. I went to Albertsons to pick up a few things . A few shops down, in the same strip mall, is a Marine recruiting center… There was a line of 18 yo’s and up, waiting to enlist. All because Trump won and then appointed you. Oh happy day!”
“Amen to that Pete. Time to clean house. As a Marine I am 100% behind turning back the clock to get our military back to one singular mission. War-Fighting. Period. Semper Fi Pete! Get some.”
“When we joined the military, we conformed to its standards. Now it’s the other way around, with identity politics forcing the military to bend to every social trend. Obama started this, Trump slowed it down, but Biden accelerated it again. We need to restore the military’s focus on strength, discipline, and readiness. Not social experiments like lowering physical standards or pushing divisive ideologies. In 2000, if recruiting ads had featured social agendas over military strength, I might have thought twice about enlisting. Let’s return to building a force that values merit and mission above all else.”
“Pete, retired USAF, combat vet, and current DoD Civilian here, I am looking forward to the change. Please let me know if I can help in any way. I would be happy to be of service. Thank you.”
“Almost canceling my retirement from the Air Force to be around this epicness!”
“God Bless you! If you’d come a year early my nephew, a Naval Academy Grad trained in nuclear Subs wouldn’t be leaving. He just couldn’t take another seminar on microaggressions.”
“My husband has been in the Army for 15 years. Last week, he had to take a two-hour mandatory class on the proper use of pronouns. A few years ago, he had to TEACH a class on the proper way to go about changing genders so that it’s recognized in the military. He wants to get out now because of this bullshit.”
Air Force Chief of Staff has no problem with USAFA DEI training not to say Mom or Dad
