Woke supporters try to defend USAF Colonel in promotion limbo

A real puff piece was written in Military.com about Senator Schmitt’s hold on promotion of USAF Col. Ben Jonsson (USAFA ’99) and brought out all his woke supporters trying to say he’s a great guy. The documents below from people under his command say otherwise, that he was a DEI and COVID tyrant.

Jonsson was the one who wrote to his “fellow white colonels” that they are the problem, after the Floyd/BLM riots (BLM being an organization founded by proud admitted Marxists).

In the recent article, his supporters blame what he did on others: “he was only following the direction what senior Air Force leaders were saying at the time he wrote the op-ed now at issue.” Only doing what everyone else is doing–how would your mother respond to that?

Here’s the totally biased headline of the article: “A Promising Air Force Officer Took a Stand Against Racism. Now, His Career Is in Political Jeopardy.”

Sen. Schmitt said, “It is long past time to root out divisive DEI policies and their advocates from our apolitical military. Leaders must emphasize unity of mission and purpose, not our immutable differences, if we are to maintain our military as the greatest meritocracy in the world. I cannot in good faith allow the confirmation of individuals who advance this divisive DEI ideology to proceed by unanimous consent.”

Controversial Air Force Colonel Gets a Media Makeover (Daily Signal)

Within the span of a few days this week, two award-winning journalists penned fawning articles about an Air Force colonel whose promotion to brigadier general is in jeopardy.

Coincidence?

Casual readers, who know nothing about Col. Ben Jonsson other than what The Washington Post and Military.com reported, likely would conclude that he deserves the promotion.

Of course, both publications told only part of the story—a classic case of media bias by omission.
