It saddens me to share two instances of leftist training at USAFA that have come to our attention over the weekend (one came from a parent, the other from a cadet).
Given all of the concerns we have expressed to USAF and USAFA leadership on behalf of parents, cadets and fellow grads (all seemingly ignored), the continuation of this indoctrination seems to show just how warmly it is being embraced and how deep the Marxist movement within our military really is.
Also shows how important our work and the work of others educating fellow Americans on the dangers of DEI and our collective work with Congress has been and will continue to be.
Congress has it in their power to end this cancer in the military–(what Chris Rufo calls in his latest book: “The long march (of Marxism) through the institutions”).
We need to do whatever we can to ensure the language that is in the House version of the NDAA survives Conference.
The first one (let’s call it “USAFA Mandates Radical Leftist Gender Training”) actually came to us from a number of sources, including this posting on our website from a parent:
“USAFA just this week began briefings for the new juniors, called Sex Education. They are told they cannot take pictures or videos or record anything. There are enlisted walking through the group to make sure no phones are seen.
They were told they didn’t want the same thing to happen as it did from last year. (STARRS NOTE: See Air Force Academy diversity training tells cadets to use words that ‘include all genders,’ drop ‘mom and dad’)
They were told that sex is determined at birth but gender is how you see yourself. They were all told that as upcoming officers, they are going to be expected to respect those who report to them including their gender choices.
There is currently a calculus teacher (male) who wears female AF uniforms to class. This makes many of the cadets very uncomfortable.
Their motto is that they do not tolerate liars but this fixes them to buy into the DEI lie.”
I have already been flooded with emails on this one–people not appreciating USAFA replacing their religious beliefs with a “religion” straight out of the writings of folks like “the grandfather of the New Left”–the Marxist, Herbert Marcuse.
Also, folks not liking the censorship—”what are they trying to hide?” I have been asked more than once. Let’s hope parents speak up on this one!
The former USAF Chief of Chaplains (Maj Gen Charlie Baldwin) is the STARRS’ Chaplain–here is what he had to say in part:
“Gen Bishop et al, Thank you very much for including me in this discussion. I am so very sad and disappointed with this new information.
I agree with your pastor friend, “…accepting and loving, BUT…”. This is a terrible and dangerous ideology that conflicts with sound, Biblical teaching. I will keep this short and send you a follow-up email with, I hope, some helpful information.
The short answer is Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Chaplain Baldwin is addressing the issue with the current Chief of USAF Chaplains.
Here is what a second cadet said about this training:
“I have not seen it, however my friend who did see it said it was the worst, most radical briefing he’s seen during his time here.”
We have FOIA’d the training, but given past USAFA FOIA non-responsiveness, it will probably take a lawsuit and many months before we–the people who support USAFA–will ever see it.
The second example (let’s call it “Building Leaders of Diversity replaces Building Leaders of Character”) came to us from a cadet concerned about what appears (from the slide anyway) to be a change in the AFA mission. (Slide below, click to enlarge and see cadet’s email below.)
“On a separate note, we had our first M5…this past week. It was a CE 300 lesson titled “Leading in a Diverse Organization”. I did not particularly want to spend my M5, which is meant to develop and prepare me for commissioning, on what felt like another D&I brief. But what surprised me most was the slide with the USAFA mission on it.
It read “Our mission is to serve as the U.S. Air Force Academy’s strategic leader in structuring a shared vision of diversity and inclusion. We aid in the transformation of future Air and Space Force leaders while creating a culture and climate where diversity strengthens all personnel. Our vision is to help create and sustain an institution that encompasses and values our cultural differences while promoting a climate of inclusion”.
This was not the USAFA mission and vision that I was taught. I recall it being “To educate, train and inspire men and women to become officers of character motivated to lead the United States Air Force and Space Force in service to our Nation. The vision of the United States Air Force Academy is to serve as the Air and Space Forces’ premier institution for developing leaders of character.”
For three years, STARRS has been recommending “listen to your people.”
No wonder this type of training is so divisive–it is forcing people to believe a “secular religion” of sorts and is replacing “in service to our nation” (why most service members join) with an overemphasis on the Marxist-based DEI ideology.
Seems to me the slide must be the mission of the DEI office–not USAFA–but that is NOT what the slide says.
No wonder recruiting is in the tank–right next to morale we are told.
As a 1966 graduate and “cultural dinosaur” of the last century, I know my brief comment will not be welcomed by many graduates who applaud the introduction of women into the Academy in 1976. I believe the current horrible state of affairs at our once proud and honorable institution began with that 1976 event. To be sure there are a multitude of other corrosive factors at work, but USAFA, the women, and our country would have been far better served at that time by the establishment of a separate women’s academy from which all the military branches could have obtained their female officers.
