Air Force Academy Woke Agenda

Tone Deaf: USAFA Names as NCLS Speaker Woke United CEO who blew up Twitter

After the door blew out on a passenger jet, a video was posted on Twitter of United Air Lines President Scott Kirby (USAFA ’89) saying United is committed to having 50% of the people in pilot classes be women or people of color. Not the best, most qualified pilots, but pilots based on their gender and skin color.

3.4 Millions views later plus another popular account retweeting it with 6.8 million views, the video went viral with people reposting, negatively commenting and making angry video commentaries about it.  Comments like:

“Alright then, @united, no way am I flying with you. Also, and this is what this type of stunts do, the next time I fly on an American airliner and I see a black person in the cockpit, I’ll immediately think they were a diversity hire. These are the thoughts such interviews and “show of allegiance” to DEI do.”

“Sex and race over meritocracy. Black people should be outraged at this. These white-guilt Lefties are basically saying people of color can’t make it in life by working hard. They can only make it on the color of their skin, and STILL, with the help of white people. Marxism at its finest.”

“I have flown a lot during my airline career. I don’t believe I will fly anymore. I’m thinking because I have so many miles its my turn to be statistic. I don’t need to aggravate that situation by exposing myself to a pilot, plane, and FAA air traffic controllers who were all DEI hires.”

“I won’t fly United anymore until the CEO unequivocally shows only merit drives the selection of pilots. Sorry!”

“Corporate America has taken it upon themselves to legalize racism against white people. You can call it affirmative action or DEI, but it’s still racism.”

“@united so your company is bragging about hiring pilots not on merit but on the color of their skin and what type genitalia they have. This is the definition of racism.”

“You will NEVER see me on this airline, EVER.”

“Interesting 🧐 I’ll take that in consideration when I choose my airline. I prefer companies that aren’t racist and sexist. Guess United airlines is the preferred choice for bigots.”

“When a planeload of people die because of DEI, these videos are going to make for great evidence in court during the lawsuits.”

It got worse. It was discovered Kirby liked to cross-dress:

And to top it off, Kirby is a COVID tyrant kicking pilots out who didn’t want to get the jab, which now has been shown to have serious, even lethal side effects–especially for pilots flying a plane.

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby instigated bullying of unvaxxed employees, lawsuit alleges (LifeSite, 29 Jan 24)
lawsuit brought against United Airlines (UAL) by employees — who say the airline encouraged harassment and bullying by managers and co-workers against those who sought accommodations after declining to receive the COVID-19 “vaccine” for religious and medical reasons — alleges that CEO Scott Kirby, now famous for his cross-dressing, was the chief instigator of the unconscionable mistreatment within his company’s ranks.

“In late 2020, Kirby began trying to leverage [the COVID] crisis for United’s benefit by publicly discussing a potential vaccine mandate,” the court filing explains. “In January 2021, without telling his executive team beforehand, Kirby made national headlines by stating that United should mandate a COVID- 19 vaccine for its 60,000 employees.”

Employees who sought medical or religious exemptions from UAL’s mandate were soon treated as pariahs. They were sacrificed on the altar of Kirby’s quest to “advertise a 100% [employee] vaccination rate after deciding that marketing was more important than its employees’ civil rights.”

“United’s actions had their desired effect, as bullying and harassment became commonplace across United’s workforce,” the lawsuit states. “Ultimately, the record is clear that United’s employees felt free to criticize accommodated employees when they saw their CEO doing the same thing.”

In order to create a workplace that would coerce compliance, “Kirby even proposed requiring accommodated employees to walk around with special stickers on their badges broadcasting their vaccination status.” . . . . (read more)

Millions of people are angry and fed up with Kirby, his racist/sexist hiring policies, his weird behavior and tyranny regarding the vax. Can’t even include here all the angry videos, commentaries made about him.

So, what does the Air Force Academy do?

Being completely tone deaf to all the anger, outrage and controversy surrounding him, what else but have him be a speaker for the 2024 National Character and Leadership Symposium?

Here is his woke pedigree bio from the USAFA NCLS speaker page, which proves they must be drunk on the kool-aid. Or maybe one of the purple-rope political commissars wrote this:

“Scott Kirby, chief executive officer of United Airlines, studied at the U.S. Air Force Academy and has spent the past three decades working in the airline business. He was appointed to this position in 2020 just as United Airlines faced the worst crisis in its history caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, United made strategic investments to execute the company’s strategy including a United Next growth plan, a commitment to be 100%-green by 2050 without relying on traditional carbon offsets. United Airlines’ strategic plan also offers action on diversity, equity and inclusion with the opening of the United Aviate Academy. The Academy hopes to train about 5,000 new pilots by 2030, including at least half women or people of color.”

By WAIT, there’s more:

Another NCLS speaker is Bryan Stevenson, Executive Director of Equal Justice Initiative. What is EJI? From their website: “The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.”

Guess what he’ll be telling the cadets. Here is his bio from the NCLS site:

“Bryan Stevenson, the Equal Justice Initiative founder and executive director, led the human rights organization to win major legal challenges eliminating excessive and unfair sentencing, exonerating innocent death row prisoners, confronting abuse of the incarcerated and the mentally ill and aiding children prosecuted as adults….Stevenson has initiated major new anti-poverty and anti-discrimination efforts that challenge inequality in America. He led the creation of two highly acclaimed cultural sites that opened in 2018: the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. These new national landmark institutions chronicle the legacy of slavery, lynching, and racial segregation and the connection to mass incarceration and contemporary issues of racial bias….”

And then there is speaker Col Bree Fram, labeled as “Former President, SPARTA”, and whose bio mainly focuses on the Colonel’s transgender identity rather than actual military accomplishments:

“Col. Bree Fram, an astronautical engineer in the U.S. Space Force, is the co-editor of With Honor and Integrity: Transgender Troops in Their Own Words, the co-author of the forthcoming Forging Queer Leaders: How the LGBTQIA+ Community Creates Impact from Adversity, and host of the podcast Forged in Fire: LGBTQ+ Leadership. She is also the former president of SPARTA, a non-profit organization that advocates and educates about transgender military service….

Fram came out publicly on the day the transgender ban in the military was dropped in 2016. She served through the re-imposition of a ban from 2019-2021 and is currently one of the highest ranking out-transgender officers in the United States military. Fram has appeared on ABC, NBC, NPR and PBS News. She is a featured speaker on leadership, diversity, and inclusion at corporations, universities and government organizations…..”

We’ll stop there for now and look at the rest of the speakers later.

From STARRS Chairman Lt. Gen. Rod Bishop, USAF ret in an email he sent out:

…See two emails below regarding two of the speakers for this year’s NCLS. I would think this would lead many to believing our Service and Alma Mater need a culture change.

First email one is from a disgruntled parent concerned about having a “social justice activist” as a speaker.

Other one is from our former CIA counterintelligence officer webmaster regarding having another social activist, cross-dressing grad, DEI warrior as yet another one of the speakers.

As you know, we have taken heat from some for being too critical of USAFA. Here is yet another example of them doing it yet again to themselves.

We also have been criticized for not working with DC enough–really? Guarantee you, this will be a topic next week while in DC meeting with both staffers and members. It sure makes the point I have been making to Congress that just cutting DEI funding doesn’t go far enough–the Marxist indoctrination goes much deeper!

Just Tuesday, I got a call from yet another disgruntled parent (and grad) saying “I am just sick and tired of USAFA jamming this DEI crap down my son’s throat.”

Our USAFA leadership certainly hasn’t listened to over three years of being told this DEI stuff just isn’t working! As a cadet wrote me in an email:

“Leadership erroneously believes these CRT training sessions unite us as a team, but in fact, cadets walk out whispering and shaking their heads, feeling more divided than ever.”

Why do they continue to press on this stuff? They just have to know it is not welcomed and not helpful?

I think we know the answer–and it is NOT that they are being directed to bring in “woke” speakers from on high.

Hi Sir,

Being disappointed in USAFA leadership is becoming a full time job.

(Thankfully, though) it sure feels like corporate America is starting to wake up.

VR, XXXX

Pathetic for sure but Kirby is not the real problem as a model woke CEO, the real problem rests with who at the AFA decided he is the kind of cross-dressing “leader” for cadets to hear as a NCLS speaker.

Who made the decision to select him and who recommended him to the decision maker?

AOG, Foundation, Friends of the Library involved or is it strictly inside the AFA with no external input from the organizations listed?

This is an “in your face” action directed toward those who oppose DEI at the academies and in the military. There are obviously hard core DEI zealots at the AFA.

MG Joe Arbuckle, USA ret

I agree with Joe, this is outrageously “in your face”. Kirby has blown up Twitter with everyone panning his DEI push at United and exposing his cross-dressing deeds (what kind of corporate president does this?) making him highly controversial. People have stopped flying United because of him because of him. I can’t believe USAFA would bring Kirby in with all that bad social media uproar–just inviting bad PR.

By his bio, he’s a poster child for the WOKE agenda:

  • COVID tyrant harshly firing pilots and employees refusing to take the jab
  • Going “Green”/Climate change (for a president of gas-guzzling passenger jets? Shooting himself in the foot; he’ll destroy his company)
  • DEI, hiring based on race and gender—not merit
  • Cross-dressing as a female multiple times while in a senior leadership positions

My only consolation regarding a USAFA grad like this is all you guys (and Kirby’s classmate Gen. Walker)—total opposite of him, thank goodness.

Generals tell you to lay off of USAFA as if it’s an innocent victim of the politics of Washington. But USAFA deliberately choosing Kirby as a speaker and publicizing his bio highlighting his Woke pedigree is a USAFA problem, not Washington.

It’s a big flaunting to STARRS and everyone else (including Generals who tried to defend USAFA) that they are still completely beholden to the Marxist-rooted, far left-wing CRT/DEI agenda and proud of it—they are not ‘innocent’ victims of politics they don’t control.

And they don’t mind damaging the reputation of the Academy by bringing on a very controversial person and certainly not a good role model for cadets (unless they want the cadets to be good Soviet political commissars instead of American warfighters).
