Martin France is a prime example of dangerous political activists infecting the military with woke ideology.
Retired Air Force Brigadier General Martin France uses both his honorary rank and uniform to protest President Trump. His current beef is with Trump’s order prohibiting transgender military servicemembers, which was recently upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
On May 29th, France stood outside the Air Force Academy gate in his uniform holding protest signs. He abused his rank by chastising military police at the gate where he was protesting because they didn’t salute him while he was improperly wearing his uniform.
His social media is filled with activist rhetoric which promotes his military rank of General.

France claims attorneys gave him the green light to wear his uniform in the protest—one hopes he didn’t pay for that poor advice.
Worth noting is that France’s rank of Brigadier General (O-7) is only an honorary title given to Air Force Academy professors who retire after more than 10 years’ academic service. In situations such as this, the individual receives the rank pay of O-6 and France is flaunting this honorary title to promote his activism.
A retired JAG officer (military lawyer) told Restoration News that “France received bad legal advice and could be prosecuted for his actions.”
Military personnel, whether active duty or retired, cannot wear their uniforms to protest. The military has strict regulations on when military uniforms can be worn—including for retirees.
The Air Force published a guidance memorandum in February 2025 that governs how and when military uniforms may be worn, including for retirees.
Section 1.4 of the memo states “When NOT to Wear the Air Force Uniform,” including “when participating in activities such as . . . marches, rallies, or any public demonstration which may imply Air Force sanction of the cause.”
It further prohibits wearing of the uniform at any public “demonstration, march, rally, or interview if the purpose may be to advocate, express or approve opposition to the Armed Forces of the United State” or “when it would discredit the Armed Forces.
The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is the legal system that governs the prosecution of service members—including retirees in some cases. An investigation should be opened to France’s actions.

Who is Martin France?
Martin “Marty” France served as a permanent professor at the Air Force Academy for over a decade and was head of the Department of Astronautics. He spent a vast majority of his service years in the field of academia.
France joined the board of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) in September 2018, a radical activist group with a history of attacking Christians in the name of “religious freedom.”
Recently France referred to Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth as “Christian Nationalists,” in line with the MRFF’s anti-Christian rhetoric.
Interestingly, France posted on his Linkedin account that his retirement effective date was October 1, 2018—after he joined MRFF. If accurate, this could pose additional legal problems for France.
France admits to contributing along the way to MRFF’s work and being longtime friends with MRFF President Mikey Weinstein.
In September 2018 France proclaimed he “worked closely with Mikey and the MRFF during my time at the US Air Force Academy.” In December 2018, he wrote that he was a “longtime supporter” of MRFF.
MRFF has filed multiple complaints against the Air Force Academy, including while France served there. Was France colluding with Weinstein while he was still on active duty?
France suffers from a clear case of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). His blog is full of immense hatred for President Trump, and he vows more activism.
In April, prior to his stunt in uniform, he protested with other Leftists in Colorado Springs carrying a sign identifying himself as a retired general.
In January 2025 after President Trump announced that Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Lohmeier would be the next Under Secretary of the Air Force, France added to his social media rants claiming “Matthew Lohmeier is a stain on our proud history and an embarrassment.
If France can’t abide by military regulations, should he still be allowed to hold an active top secret security clearance?
The Air Force Secretary should take decisive action to prosecute France to the fullest extent of the law and remove his honorary title of Brigadier General that he uses to flaunt his political views.

I mean him being a senior Officer in uniform making that statement makes it seem like that’s an official policy and sentiment of the @usairforce. A normal person driving by would assume that’s an Air Force endorsed activity.

Many of these GOs have no military acumen whatsoever and are communists. They want to reshape America, and the military stands in their way. They would gladly cripple the force to bring down the Republic.

We definitely aren’t creating generals who honor their oath. Sad and embarrassing. Demote and investigate immediately. https://t.co/QY7b41Hm8j

This lunatic right here is the poster child for what is wrong with the armed services over the past 20 years, or more. https://t.co/5SSGU9Bn5N
