Naval Academy Woke Agenda

New Leadership at the U.S. Naval Academy Could Change the Game

By Victoria Manning | Restoration News

America’s premier military academies have been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons for several years. Our leaders must return the focus of the academies to preparing battleground warriors, not social justice warriors. Merit, not DEI, must determine the future leaders shaped by the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA).

On Monday, September 8, the Naval Academy Board of Visitors will meet at the Library of Congress in D.C. Presidential and congressional appointees make up the board, which includes the Chair, Sen. Dan Sullivan and Vice-Chair, Rep. Rob Wittman.

Restoration of America submitted our plan to the USNA Board of Visitors (BOV) that outlines our aspirations to restore USNA to greatness. The BOV would be wise to hear our concerns and consider our solutions. As a watchdog organization on military issues we expose these and other important issues at RestoretheMilitary.com.

USNA has been plagued with division through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agendas. Restoration News reported exclusively in June that USNA did not use standardized test scores in their weighting of applicants for classes of 2025-2028, despite Defense Department requirements to do so.

Marine is Now in Charge

Vice Admiral Yvette Davids was relieved of command as the Superintendent of the Naval Academy in July. When she was in charge, USNA was taken to court over racist admissions practices, and their attorney asserted that racial quotas were necessary to build a diverse student body. Davids is best known for being a Hispanic woman, not for being a great leader.

Now Lt. Gen. Michael Borgschulte has taken over leadership of the academy—the first-ever Marine Superintendent of USNA in the school’s 180 year history. Borgschulte is a USNA alumnus who vowed to safeguard its traditions. He also indicated a much-needed shift toward military readiness, saying:

“The academy exists not to pursue academic rankings or institutional accolades yes, we have those but to fulfill a sacred mission, and that’s to develop the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps officers who will protect and defend the freedoms we as Americans so often take for granted.”

While other services were struggling to meet recruitment goals, Borgshulte oversaw the highest recruitment and retention in Marine Corps history.

Borgshulte has some cleaning up to do.

The USNA Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership was infiltrated by woke ideology under former Deputy Director Jeffrey Macris. Under Macris, the Stockdale Center instituted DEI curriculum called “Leading Across Cultures”—students were forced to participate in so-called ethics courses that promoted DEI dogma. Macris is now at the Naval War College.

Restoration News recently learned of an active-duty permanent military professor at USNA who posted prolifically on social media his views against the agendas of President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth.

Commander Matthew Krauz teaches in the Department of Leadership, Ethics, and Law. His blatantly political social media posts against the President and Defense Secretary should be investigated.

Here is just one example, but more of his leftist, DEI rants can be found at RestoretheMilitary.com.

It’s imperative that USNA remove any staff member with a social justice or political agenda like Krauz.

The Naval Academy is a prestigious American institution that has suffered under past administrations. It’s time to return USNA back to a focus of preparing sailors and Marines to be the best war-fighters possible.

Restoration of America urges the Boards of Visitors to take decisive action at their upcoming meetings to ensure every military academy rededicates itself to preparing the best leaders possible. That means rejecting woke agendas in favor of rewarriorizing our military.
