(Military.com) Children’s biographies of trailblazing transgender public figures. An award-winning novel reflecting on what it is like to be Black in America. A series of graphic novels about the love story between a teenage gay couple.
Those are some of the 596 books that have been pulled from shelves in the Defense Department schools that serve military children as part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to censor LGBTQ+ and racial issues from official government materials.
The full list was released by the order of a federal judge as part of the American Civil Liberties Union’s lawsuit against the Department of Defense Education Activity’s implementation of President Donald Trump’s anti-diversity and anti-LGBTQ+ executive orders.
“The amount of titles banned by the Trump administration is astonishing, and the list provided by DoDEA perfectly illustrates how the administration is putting politics above pedagogy,” Emerson Sykes, senior staff attorney with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy and Technology Project, said . . . . Here’s All The Nauseatingly Sexual Books The Left Wants Military Kids Reading
By Wallace White | The Daily Caller News Foundation
A U.S. district court released a comprehensive list on July 11 of every book banned from use in Pentagon-run schools, which includes a slew of highly sexual LGBT topics directed at children and other leftist literature.
The list, totaling 596 books, was included in a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) against the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). A substantial portion of the literature explicitly or implicitly included sexual LGBT themes directed at minors, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and other left-wing views on social issues.
“Our DoDEA schools are not playgrounds for left-wing activists pushing race-baiting, gender confusion, and anti-American propaganda,” Nicole Kiprilov, executive director of DOD Watch, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “This isn’t about banning ideas; it’s about stopping the deliberate indoctrination of military children with a radical ideology that directly contradicts the values that should be shaping our children’s growth and development.”
One children’s book listed, titled “My Dad Thinks I’m a Boy?!: A Trans Positive Children’s Book,” tells the story of a trans child named “Stephanie” and his dad, who does not affirm the child’s change from a boy to a girl. Another book, titled “Dude, You’re a Fag: Masculinity and Sexuality in High School,” which analyzes “fag discourse” and the “specter of the fag” in regulating sexual behavior among high school boys, according to its description on Amazon.
A children’s book titled “Sex Is a Funny Word: A Book about Bodies, Feelings, and YOU” also made the list, which Amazon describes as an “essential resource about bodies, gender, and sexuality for children ages 8 to 10 as well as their parents and caregivers.”
The list also bans several books penned by Ibram X. Kendi, a notorious leftist author who popularized the idea of “anti-racism,” which posits that one must fight actively to elevate minorities instead of simply not judging a person’s character on the basis of skin color. “White Fragility” by Robin DiAngelo, a book addressing all the ways that white people inadequately face up to systemic racism, is also featured among the banned books.
Other titles on the ban list include “Baby Drag Queen,” “ABC’s of LGBT+” and “Auntie Uncle: Drag Queen Hero.”
A children’s biography on Rachel Levine, the first openly transgender government official, is also on the list. The book was penned in part by Chelsea Clinton, daughter of failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Levine collaborated with the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) to remove its age guidelines from its recommendations on transgender surgeries.
“The Trump administration is fighting for military families by making sure DoDEA schools reflect the values of service, sacrifice, and country, and not the woke agenda of activist bureaucrats,” Kiprilov told the DCNF.
The Trump administration has made a major push to remove LGBT themes, DEI and other leftist ideas from education in government-run schools. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made a point to remove left-wing talking points from material at the Pentagon, instead emphasizing a return to the “warrior ethos.”
Nearly two dozen House Democrats demanded in March that Hegseth reverse the new guidance on books in DOD schools, saying the Pentagon was “violating the constitutional rights of DoD families,” in a letter to the Pentagon.
The Pentagon did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
