(Dept of the Air Force) The Department of Defense released the memorandum Additional Guidance for Executive Order 14183, “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness” identifying that on Feb. 26, 2025, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense Personnel and Readiness directed that the medical, surgical and mental health constraints on individuals who have a current diagnosis or history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria are incompatible with the high mental and physical standards necessary for military service.
Service members subject to the requirements in OUSD (P&R) Memorandum, “Additional Guidance on Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness,” released Feb. 26, 2025 are encouraged to elect to separate voluntarily no later than March 26, 2025.
